Governor Wolf and legislators reintroduce 'PA Opportunity Program', continue to fight for $2,000 direct payments to Pennsylvanians

Representative David Delloso, stakeholders, and community members joined

Governor Tom Wolf today to discuss the reintroduction of the PA Opportunity Program,

Which would send $2,000 checks directly to Pennsylvania residents.

The PA Opportunity Program was first proposed by Governor Wolf in February,

But Republican leaders in the General Assembly refused to fund it. As I've traveled throughout

The commonwealth, I've heard directly from so many people about how much this program would mean to them.

The people of Pennsylvania deserve the help they need, and I won't stop fighting for it."

Governor Wolf announced a $1.7 billion proposal for Pennsylvania's $2 billion in American

Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds in February. While Democratic leaders in the Senate and

House introduced legislation, the Republican-led General Assembly failed to appropriate funding for the program.

In this year's budget, we invested in working families across the commonwealth,

Setting Pennsylvania on its way to a brighter future, and we still have the funds to continue to do so,

Said Gov. Wolf. “Pennsylvania needs help now, and we can afford to provide it. Let's put

This money back into Pennsylvanians' pockets to help them pay for gas, groceries, and everything else.
